A WrexPat's look at Wrexham AFC: early July 2026

The last post here was a season wrap-up. This one isn't. Pre-season doesn't really pause for a monthly schedule, and Wrexham has packed more news into the first two weeks of July than some full months get. Let's get into it.

Firefox is the new name on the shirt

The one that actually stopped me mid-scroll: Wrexham AFC and Firefox announced a multi-year, front-of-shirt sponsorship, replacing whatever you were expecting a League One-turned-Championship club's shirt sponsor to be with, of all things, a web browser. I'll admit my first reaction was "huh?" But it tracks the more I sit with it. This is a club whose entire rise was built on the internet paying attention to it, so an internet-native brand on the front of the shirt isn't as odd as it first sounds. The sleeve is a newer story too: Nex Playground signed on as sleeve sponsor back in June, taking over from HP, who held that spot through 2025/26.

The new kit had its coming-out in Krakow

The 2026/27 away kit dropped alongside the sponsorship news: dark anthracite grey, a sublimated red-line graphic pulling from North Wales' slate quarries, and "Ein Tir, Ein Hospryd" (Our Ground, Our Spirit) stitched into the hem tape. It's a good-looking shirt, and it got its first runout in the opening match of pre-season away to Wisla Krakow on July 11th. I haven't been able to confirm a final score from that one yet. I'd rather leave it out than guess, and I'll fold it into next time if it matters.

Man United's next, then the big one: three games on American soil

Parkinson's side head to Helsinki to face Manchester United on July 18th, and then the tour every Wrexham USA reader has had circled for months actually arrives. Wrexham play three matches in the States against exclusively Premier League opposition for the first time ever: Leeds United in Tampa on July 25th, Liverpool at Yankee Stadium on July 29th, and Sunderland at Subaru Park in Philadelphia on August 2nd. However you feel about the Firefox deal, this is the story of the summer for anyone reading this from the US side of the Atlantic. Three chances to see this club in person without booking a flight to Wales.

Smaller moves worth knowing

Mo Faal has gone out on a season-long loan to Port Vale, a fair shout for minutes he wasn't getting at the Racecourse. And the opening day of the Championship season is now set for live TV: the Carabao Cup First Round trip to Middlesbrough on Friday, August 7th will be shown on both Sky Sports and ITV.

Busy fortnight, and the tour is the headline of it. I'll say it plainly: I'm personally looking forward to being in New York for Wrexham versus Liverpool at Yankee Stadium on July 29th. That's the one I've had circled since it was announced, and I can't wait.
